Stick Structure Building Workshop

£35.00

In this fun forest craft workshop, you will immerse yourself in the art of building using natural materials like dens, benders, domes, Tipis, and collective woven structures. No experience is necessary; this session serves as an introduction to the craft. Throughout the day at Lesnes Abbey Woods in South East London, you will explore sustainable gathering techniques, learn about different materials, and gain insights into the qualities and gathering methods of various natural resources.

  • You will learn how to gather materials sustainably through techniques like coppicing.

  • The session is open to all ages and abilities, welcoming families as well.

  • The day will be spent building structures collectively as a group, allowing for a playful and informative experience. Supporting both creative making and bushcraft skills.

The workshop aims to provide a safe and welcoming space for beginners to learn and explore their creativity. The hands-on experience of creating structures from scratch may initially seem daunting, but the guidance and support provided will alleviate any fears and make the process both enjoyable and educational. By the end of the session, you will have acquired new insights and skills to share with your own groups, as well as a sense of accomplishment from creating structures in the natural surroundings of Lesnes Abbey Woods.

What you’ll get

A foundation of knowledge and experience working with Willow, Hazel, Sweet Chestnut, and Bamboo along with insights into coppicing within a woodland setting.
